After guest-starring on several television series and lead role on a cable drama, Haddish gained prominence for her role as Nekeisha Williams on the NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show (2015-2017). Her mother, Leola, was an African American small business owner. Haddishs mother remarried after her father abandoned the family when she was three years old, giving birth to Haddishs two half-sisters and half-brothers.
